Louro Aircraft Services (“LAS”) has been incorporated in May 1995 as a result of: a) The inadequate ability of the market conditions to meet with air operators' needs relating aircraft line maintenance; b) The low technical flexibility to attend different fleets; c) The operators' difficulties in having their maintenance needs assured outside Lisbon and Oporto. Thus, the Company has started its aircraft maintenance activity in Faro in May 1995. At that time, the company only had two clients: Air Europa (Spain) and Air Atlanta Icelandic (Iceland) and five employees. In December 1995, the company opened the Lisbon station and in early 1996, with six employees, started to provide line maintenance services to British Airways (United Kingdom) and North American Airlines (U.S.A). In 1997 the Oporto station has been created, and the following companies became LAS's clients: Tunisair (Turkey), KLM (Holand) and Royal Air Morocco (Marroco). In 1998, a significant increase was experienced and by then the Company had already 17 employees. During the following year, LAS has also expanded its activity by creating three new stations: Brussels, Ponta Delgada and Terceira and gained clients such as Canada 3000 (Canada) and Condor (Germany), thus doubling the number of employees. Finally, the Company has opened Stations such as Funchal (in 2000) and Liège (in 2001).
Up to 2001 the Company faced serious difficulties in the recruitment of qualified personnel capable of gathering with the quality of the services requested. These difficulties lead to the launching of LAS's Training Centre. Taking into account the high number of foreign operators flying to Portuguese airports 95% of LAS's clients come from the external market. LAS is a provider of services in the line maintenance business. The Company seeks to provide its clients needs with a high quality level of services at competitive prices. LAS carries on its line maintenance activity under PARTE-145 issued by INAC ("Instituto Nacional de Aviação Civil"), the Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority, member of JAA ("Joint Aviation Authorities"). Presently, LAS is the only Portuguese company in the line maintenance business duly authorized to carry out technical services in the following aircrafts: B737 Classic and B737 N/G ("New Generation"), B757 Series and B767 series, as per our JAR-145 Approval Schedule. It is also duly certified by TCCA - Transport Canada Civil Aviation. With head offices in Faro, LAS has stations in Lisbon Oporto, Ponta Delgada, Terceira, Funchal, Bruxelas and Liège and provides maintenance services in London (United Kingdom), Budapest (Hungary), Nice (France), Stockholm (Sweden), Madrid and Barcelona (Spain), Milan (Italy) and Warsow (Poland).
